SDCP Politics | Duterte's Supporter in Camiguin Prevented by the Romualdos to Attend the Rally

DAVAO CITY, Davao — Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s camp reacts the local government officials objection on Duterte's campaign rally in Camiguin island.  It was published in the news online and other social media entity that the Duterte's supporters was prevented by the Romualdo's clan to attend the rally.

It was learned that the supporters were harassed, threatened, removal of cash benefits to those who join the rally and market vendors were  threatened to removed them in their respective area in the public market if they were try to attend the big rally of Duterte and Cayetano's tandem in Mambajao, Camiguin. The electricity was cut off and the supplier of the sound system was warned not to do any more business in the island.

This is a clear violation of the election code of the Philippines and we are looking for the Comelec Chair Bautista to address this issue as well as the reaction of the CHR Chair Chito Gascon to stop gross human rights violations in Camiguin.

Duterte's spokeperson Peter Tiu Laviña posted in his Facebook earlier today:
"Napoles also said Romualdo had a P10-million project with the DA-Regional Field Unit 10 and P5 million with the DA-NAFC and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) sourced from CA funds.
Napoles claimed that Romualdo also asked for a 50 percent rebate and took some of her personal vehicles, including a Ford Expedition with plate number JGN-999 and a Toyota Camry."
 said the spokeperson of Duterte,

In addition to his statement, Laviña urged the people to stand its right against thier local executive. It's about time to expose how dirty the politics in Camiguin. Romualdo's clan are members of the Liberal Party and supporting LP presidential candidate Mar Roxas and  the independent candidate Grace Poe. They wanted to show that Duterte and Cayetano's tandem is not welcome in the island dominated by them.

Despite of the terror tactics of the ruling party, the Duterte's supporters still manage to attend the said rally and they were able to built a makeshift stage for the campaign. It was attended by more or less 5,000 Camiguiños.

During the rally, which started only when the Davao City mayor arrived, Duterte reminded the Romualdos that political rallies are protected by the Constitution and that they could get in trouble for trying to stop the rally.

NP, PDP jump Liberal ship for Rody

THE ruling Liberal Party of President Benigno Aquino III has lost two allies in the Nacionalista Party (NP) and Partido Demokratikong Pilipino or PDP-Laban after the two parties agreed to bolt the coalition and form an alliance to back Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s presidential bid in the 2016 elections.

The NP-PDP-Laban merger was firmed up Monday night during a three-hour meeting at the Hotel Sofitel, which was attended by the top leadership of both parties and Duterte.

“It’s a done deal. The official announcement of the merger of the two parties with Duterte as the standard-bearer will be made last week of September,” a highly reliable source, who was privy to the meeting, told The Standard.

The two parties will meet again in mid-September to decide on Duterte’s running mate.

“It is a toss-up between Senators [Ferdinand] Bongbong Marcos [II] and Allan Peter Cayetano, both NP stalwarts,” said the source who requested anonymity.

NP president former Senator Manuel Villar and his wife Senator Cynthia Villar clinched the agreement with former Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr., and his son and namesake Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, chairman emeritus and president of PDP-Laban, respectively, in the presence of Duterte.

The Villars and Pimentels gave Duterte the option to pick between Marcos and Cayetano as his running mate.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, also an NP member and who has repeatedly announced his availability to run for a higher office, was not considered.

The Villars and Pimentels have yet to inform President Aquino, the LP chairman, of their decision to leave the administration coalition primarily because they could no longer support the candidacy of the President’s anointed one, Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

Roxas was endorsed by the President as the LP standard bearer for 2016. He said he had chosen Roxas because he was in the best position to continue his reform agenda, the much touted “Tuwid na Daan” or straight path.

In the 2013 midterm elections, the NP and PDP-Laban, along with the Nationalist People’s Coalition, National Unity Party, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino and Akbayan formed the administration alliance that was spearheaded by the LP to bankroll the Team PNoy that won nine of the 12 seats in the Senate.

Cynthia Villar, Cayetano and Trillanes from the NP and the young Pimentel of the PDP-Laban were among those who ran and won under the LP-led Team PNoy.

“The NP and PDP-Laban chose to join forces as the latter insisted they wanted someone from Mindanao and Visayan-speaking to be the country’s next President,” the source said.

“They found Duterte to be the strongest contender that could fill the bill.”

The PDP-Laban earlier adopted Duterte as its standard bearer.

Duterte, according to the source, was comfortable being carried by the NP because his father, former Davao Gov. Vicente Duterte, was also an NP stalwart.

Duterte counts as his bailiwicks the Visayan-speaking Mindanao and the Visayas because his father was a native of Danao, Cebu, in the Visayas and his mother, Soledad Roa, was from Agusan and Misamis in Mindanao.

Duterte said he was comfortable working with either Marcos or Cayetano as his running mate.

Marcos counts as his bailiwicks the North as his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was from Ilocos Norte and his mother and now Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos is a native of Leyte and Samar.

The best is soon to come — FVR

I read this article thru a Facebook link and i can't help to share it with you. The article is coming from Bot Consultancy which is owned and operated by Ben Tesiorna, who is a contributor of CNN iReport and a correspondent of Solar News Channel for Davao Region.

DAVAO CITY, Davao
— If you are to read between the lines, it’s almost like former president Fidel V. Ramos is already endorsing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for the presidency.

Ramos and Duterte attended the BIMP-Eaga event at the SMX Lanang here in Davao City Thursday morning where both declared that it is all well in Mindanao, particularly Davao City.

The former president went further by saying that “Duterte is okay”.

The two met again at the Marco Polo Hotel around five in the afternoon with Jesus Dureza and Paul Dominguez. The meeting was however shortly interrupted by an earthquake.

Forty-five minutes after, Duterte and Ramos went out the room with the former president declaring that “the best is soon to come”.

When pressed if he is already endorsing Duterte for the presidential race come 2016, Ramos however refused to give a categorical answer read more..

Duterte: "Destined to Become President"

Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte
MANILA, Philippines
—  A former ranking government official on Monday said that the outspoken Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is destined to lead the country come the presidential derby in 2016.

Eduardo del Rosario, former National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director, said that while Duterte has initially turned down offers for him to run for the highest post in the land, there is still a chance for him to change his mind.

"Ito kasi parang advocacy na ito. There is what we call destiny. Kung talagang destiny ng isang tao na sya ang mamuno sa ating bayan kahit ayaw n'ya baka sa bandang dulo , ma-encourage siya na tumakbo din," del Rosario told reporters at the sidelines of the Duterte for 2016 President Movement in Greenhills, San Juan City.

Being the mayor's friend, Del Rosario, who had worked with Duterte for over six years, said the Davao City local chief executive is a capable of running the country.

"As a friend of Mayor Duterte, I worked with him for more than six years as battalion commander from 2000 to 2003 , as Task Force Davao commander from 2004 to 2006 and as Brigade commander in 2009, I know that Mayor Duterte is capable to become president of our country...Malaki ang kanyang kakayahan at maganda ang kanyang ginagawa. Yan ang kailangan ng ating bayan," he added.

He also noted what Duterte has done in Davao like being able to lower the crime rate in the city and instill discipline among his constituents.

He said there is a "silent majority" supporting the idea of Duterte running for president.

Aside from Del Rosario, ex-Philippine National Police chief Roberto Lastimoso was also sighted at the event.

SDCP Politics | VP BINAY'S NUMBERS PLUMMET AND THE PRESIDENCY IS NOW A MIRAGE

The blunders of Jojo Binay
By Manny Piñol

Jesus Jose Maria Binay is the ultimate politician.
He befriends everybody, visits the wake of almost all dead people even those he does not personally know, rides on popular issues, reaches out to people identified with his political adversaries and most of all, he has expertly played the "poor versus rich" card to get the sympathy of the hoi polloi.
Shortly after the 2010 presidential elections, when Binay came from virtually nowhere to defeat frontrunner Mar Roxas III and become the vice president to Benigno S. Aquino III, he immediately positioned himself for the presidency.
True to his color as an astute politician, he immediately reached out to people who worked for his main political adversary.

I was one of those invited to the Coconut Palace through the intercession of a common friend, businessman and horseracing enthusiast Hermie Esguerra.
Of course, Binay knew that I campaigned for Mar Roxas and while I lost in the 2010 elections for the governorship of North Cotabato, he and his people knew that I have a sizable number of loyal supporters who believed in my governance and who could neither be swayed by money, rice and goodies nor cowed by threats and intimidation.

I knew Jojo Binay from way back since my journalism days to the period when I was in politics where we were brought together by another common friend, former President Joseph Estrada.
But it was only when I called on him in the Coconut Palace along with my brothers Mayor Lito of M'lang and Mayor Efren of Magpet when I realized how warm Jojo Binay was as a person.
Holding my hand like we were long lost friends, Jojo Binay told me: "O, sa susunod ha, tayo na ang magsama." (Hey, next time, the two of us should be together.)
I found it easy to like Jojo Binay.

He was so unlike Mar Roxas who could sometimes be very abrasive, irascible and incapable of showing warmth to people around him.
Mar's character though is understandable having grown up in an environment where as a super rich kid everybody around him was either a servant or a driver.
I was deeply impressed by Jojo Binay's warmth, which whether real or feigned, made people around him feel comfortable.

It was during that meeting, which was followed by many other encounters later, when I told Jojo Binay that he was a cinch to be the next President of the Philippines if only he could avoid committing a political blunder.

"Wala naman sigurong delikado na magka-blunder tayo kasi hindi naman controversial ang hawak kong position," he told me obviously referring to his being the housing Czar of the Aquino administration.
But there is a saying "When things are bound to go wrong, they will go wrong." The blunders that Jojo Binay tried hard to avoid started to unfold for people to see.

There was a video of his vehicles convoy crossing a street on a red light which he later justified by saying he was late for an appointment. Then, there was the Dasmarinas gate scandal where he publicly defended his son, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay even when the latter displayed high-handed and arrogant behavior towards the lowly subdivision guards.

Now, he and his family are committing another major mistake by snubbing the Senate investigation which leads some people to ask: "If they can make a travesty of institutional processes now, how much more if he becomes President?"

The biggest blunder committed by Vice President Binay, however, was declaring that he was coveting the Presidency even before the dust of the 2010 elections could settle down.
He allowed himself to become fair game and open target to people who do not like him to become President or who would like other people to be President.

What makes things worse for Vice President Binay is the fact that while he may have tried hard to avoid committing blunders as he prepares for the presidency, he obviously committed a lot of them when he was still Mayor of Makati.

His past blunders include being too trusting to people around him, including his former Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado who along with other key Binay henchmen is now exposing alleged corruption and anomalies in the Makati City Hall during the time Jojo Binay was Mayor up to the period when his wife, Dr. Elenita, and son, Junjun, took over the city hall.

Another blunder was reneging on his commitment to Mercado to support the latter's bid for the mayorship of Makati, a reason perhaps for Mercado to spill the beans on his former boss.
Vice President Binay may have deftly avoided major political blunders during his incumbency as the second highest official of the country but his biggest problem is the past.
Indeed, Jojo Binay can avoid blunders but he cannot erase and run away from the ones he committed in the past.
