SDCP Politics | Duterte's Supporter in Camiguin Prevented by the Romualdos to Attend the Rally

DAVAO CITY, Davao — Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s camp reacts the local government officials objection on Duterte's campaign rally in Camiguin island.  It was published in the news online and other social media entity that the Duterte's supporters was prevented by the Romualdo's clan to attend the rally.

It was learned that the supporters were harassed, threatened, removal of cash benefits to those who join the rally and market vendors were  threatened to removed them in their respective area in the public market if they were try to attend the big rally of Duterte and Cayetano's tandem in Mambajao, Camiguin. The electricity was cut off and the supplier of the sound system was warned not to do any more business in the island.

This is a clear violation of the election code of the Philippines and we are looking for the Comelec Chair Bautista to address this issue as well as the reaction of the CHR Chair Chito Gascon to stop gross human rights violations in Camiguin.

Duterte's spokeperson Peter Tiu Laviña posted in his Facebook earlier today:
"Napoles also said Romualdo had a P10-million project with the DA-Regional Field Unit 10 and P5 million with the DA-NAFC and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) sourced from CA funds.
Napoles claimed that Romualdo also asked for a 50 percent rebate and took some of her personal vehicles, including a Ford Expedition with plate number JGN-999 and a Toyota Camry."
 said the spokeperson of Duterte,

In addition to his statement, Laviña urged the people to stand its right against thier local executive. It's about time to expose how dirty the politics in Camiguin. Romualdo's clan are members of the Liberal Party and supporting LP presidential candidate Mar Roxas and  the independent candidate Grace Poe. They wanted to show that Duterte and Cayetano's tandem is not welcome in the island dominated by them.

Despite of the terror tactics of the ruling party, the Duterte's supporters still manage to attend the said rally and they were able to built a makeshift stage for the campaign. It was attended by more or less 5,000 Camiguiños.

During the rally, which started only when the Davao City mayor arrived, Duterte reminded the Romualdos that political rallies are protected by the Constitution and that they could get in trouble for trying to stop the rally.

SDCP Politics | Rody Duterte Calls for Federal Summit

DAVAO CITY, Davao — Mayor Rody Duterte will convene Mindanao leaders and various groups of stakeholders for a one-day summit on federalism Monday (December 1) in a bid to adopt a viable alternative to the present system of governance he described as “antiquated”.

Duterte, a potential presidential candidate, has not made public political plans for 2016 but cautioned supporters against pushing for his candidacy saying he would push for a federal form of government and abolish Congress as his first official act should he become president.

In the invitation which Duterte signed, the straight-talking lawyer and former prosecutor said, “I am calling on all responsible leaders in the island from government and civil society organizations, business, church, academe, military, indigenous peoples, youth/student and other stakeholders to tackle the possibility of pushing federalism as a viable alternative to the prevailing antiquated system, to effect meaningful political and social changes particularly in Mindanao and the country in general.”

The summit will be held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel here.

The summit, according to Duterte, aims to “forge a well-informed united front tasked to craft a collective plan of action on what is perceived as an arduous and long quest for Mindanao’s true identity reflective of its various tribes and peoples’ wishes and aspirations.”

The summit also hopes to address the “brewing sentiment of conscienticized leaders to forge unity towards a federal system of government.”

Davao City Information Officer Leo Villareal said a seven-man panel has been formed to act as reactors. They are: former President Fidel V. Ramos, Msgr. Fernando Capalla, Ateneo de Davao University President Fr. Joel Tabora, student leader Krista Iris Melgarejo, Severino Magbuo of the Indigenous People, former AFP Chief of Staff retired Gen. Hermogenes Esperon, businessman Paul Dominguez, and a constitutionalist who was not named.

Topping the list of invited participants are the governors, vice governors, congressmen, city and municipal mayors in Mindanao including those from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).

Governors Joey Salceda of Albay and Jose Pepito Alvarez of Palawan were also invited by Duterte and so with Congresswoman Lenny Robredo, the heads of the Municipal Mayors’ League, Vice Mayors’ League, Councilors’ League, and League of Barangays in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

From the religious sector, 24 Mindanao bishops headed by Bishop Capalla were invited, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Muslim religious leaders led by Aleem Mahmod Mala Adilao, Shiek Aleem Pasigan, and other 8 religious leaders.

Muslim leaders in the list were lawyer Randolf Parcasio, Prof. Moner Bajunaid, and Amina Razul.

Non-government organizations, Gabriela party-list, UP Mindanao student council, transport, labor and the urban poor groups will be represented in the summit.

The Chamber of Commerce in Davao and other areas in Mindanao, Philippine Banana Exporters Association, Miners Association, Tuna Exporters Association, and those in construction business who will represent the business sector were likewise invited to attend.

The best is soon to come — FVR

I read this article thru a Facebook link and i can't help to share it with you. The article is coming from Bot Consultancy which is owned and operated by Ben Tesiorna, who is a contributor of CNN iReport and a correspondent of Solar News Channel for Davao Region.

DAVAO CITY, Davao
— If you are to read between the lines, it’s almost like former president Fidel V. Ramos is already endorsing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for the presidency.

Ramos and Duterte attended the BIMP-Eaga event at the SMX Lanang here in Davao City Thursday morning where both declared that it is all well in Mindanao, particularly Davao City.

The former president went further by saying that “Duterte is okay”.

The two met again at the Marco Polo Hotel around five in the afternoon with Jesus Dureza and Paul Dominguez. The meeting was however shortly interrupted by an earthquake.

Forty-five minutes after, Duterte and Ramos went out the room with the former president declaring that “the best is soon to come”.

When pressed if he is already endorsing Duterte for the presidential race come 2016, Ramos however refused to give a categorical answer read more..

Duterte to PNoy: Don’t be the ‘savior of this universe’

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte

Davao City, Davao
 — Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, one of the staunch supporters of President Aquino in Mindanao, yesterday expressed opposition to proposals to amend the constitution and extend the President’s term.
“The statement that says there must be a second term (for Aquino) to save democracy is pure b*** s***,” Duterte said.

The mayor was reacting to proposals coming mostly from Aquino supporters and in Malacañang over extending the President’s term which can only be made possible through constitutional change.
This country is run by elections. If the people decide to elect a son of a b*****, then that’s their choice,” Duterte said.

Aside from the President’s term extension, Duterte said charter change will also limit the powers of the Supreme Court.
“Now they also want to amend the constitution and clip the powers of the Supreme Court. Patay tayo d’yan (We’re dead),” Duterte said.
The constitution may only be a piece of paper but it holds the country together from Jolo to Aparri, he said.
“You destroy that paper then you destroy the country,” he added.
But Duterte believes Aquino is a good president and has given his best to serve the Filipino people and the country.

“The President is good, he is very clean. That’s why I supported him last elections,” he said.
If given a chance to talk to the President, Duterte said he would tell him to calm down and “not be the savior of this universe because we are not. Leave it to the people to decide.”

He however admitted that “nobody can stop the Congress if they want it. It must be for good reason.”
“But if you say that you are trying to amend the constitution to save democracy then that’s an idiotic thing,” Duterte said.
He said that democracy in the country is very much alive, but the problem are those who were elected to various positions in the government.

DAVAO CITY, Philippines
-- The second Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index showed cities in Metro Manila, as well as large metropolises like Cebu and Davao, faring better in the rankings when compared to last year, when the index was topped by cities and municipalities in the provinces.

This year’s index ranked 136 cities and 399 municipalities based on 28 indicators in the areas of economic dynamism, government efficiency, and infrastructure, with 100 as the highest possible score. The scores were analyzed by regional committees, culled from data provided by local government units.

Last year’s pilot index included 122 cities and 163 municipalities, which were assessed based on 30 indicators.

Makati City topped this year’s ranking of cities with an overall score of 53.24 points. Cagayan de Oro City, last year’s most competitive city, followed with a score of 49.36. Naga City placed third with 49.08.

The cities of Davao and Marikina placed fourth and fifth, respectively, scoring 47.72 and 45.47. Iloilo City came next with 45.00, followed by Cebu with 43.69, Manila with 43.15, Valenzuela with 43.02, and Paranaque with 42.70.

Last year, nine out of the top ten cities in the index were those in provinces. After first-placer Cagayan de Oro came the cities of Iloilo, San Fernando in Pampanga, Butuan, Bacolod, Koronadal, San Fernando in La Union, Olongapo, and Naga. Marikina City, last year’s tenth-placer, was the sole Metro Manila city in the top 10.

“One thing we noticed between last year and this year is that the completion rates, the coverage rates for both cities and municipalities have improved significantly from year to year,” NCC Co-Chairman Guillermo M. Luz said yesterday.

Meanwhile, for this year’s municipalities ranking, Daet, Camarines Norte named as the most competitive, with an overall score of 43.24.

Following Daet were General Trias, Cavite with 42.50; Kalibo, Aklan, 42.17; Carmona, Cavite, 41.79; and Nabunturan, Compostela Valley, 41.11. Municipalities placing sixth to tenth were Lubao, Pampanga, 40.10; Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, 38.88; Polomolok, South Cotabato, 38.84; Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, 38.36; and Taytay, Rizal with 38.05, respectively.

Last year, the top 10 municipalities were, respectively: San Francisco in Agusan del Sur; Guagua, Pampanga; Carmona, Cavite; Daet, Camarines Norte; General Trias, Cavite; Guimba, Nueva Ecija; Mexico, Pampanga; Surallah, South Cotabato; Taytay, Rizal; and Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

Indicators for this index included business registrations, money in circulation, number of jobs created, inflation, transparency, share of taxes and savings to local government revenue, percentage of households with connections to utilities, number of cell sites and automated teller machines, as well as the number of hotel rooms and restaurant seats.

Socioeconomic Planning chief Arsenio M. Balisacan stressed the importance of the ranking initiative, as investors can pinpoint which localities have a high potential for growth.

“On the part of government, establishing a local competitiveness indicator system would help in channeling resources to areas where these are most needed,” Mr. Balisacan said.

“This will support our development goal of reducing multidimensional poverty and creating massive quality employment.”
