When Duterte speaks

Repost:

My ears bleed when Duterte speaks.
God, that asshole.
I have lost count of the times I flip away from his interview on the local channel.
I flip since 2004 when I moved to Davao.
I cringe.
Traumatized at times.
So I re-evaluated.
Really, I did.
What are the risks?
What are the uncertainties?
What is certain?
Binay and Mar are certainties.
Certain that they would be incompetent for the job,
Given their track, their blunders, plunders, etc…face palm.
They may be good people (still questionable).
But I’m looking for a good president.
Poe is an uncertainty.
The probabilities are not known.
Inexperienced.
No record to boast of.
Just a soothing voice. And poise. Period.
Duterte, with his bad jokes, is a risk.
But the probabilities are known…very known.
He doesn't joke about governance.
I don't know how that asshole does it,
When he does it.
He does the dirty work we will never understand.
And we feel safe with him in office.
His achievements include…
Shall I enumerate?
It’s long.
Note, there is no record of violation of rights..
Women, LGBT, etc.
Except for the “murders” of criminals…
Alleged murders.
Which I seem to like...I admit.
At least im the one alive.
Just as I don’t listen to other candidates’ promises of better Philippines,
I have long stopped listening to Duterte’s jokes.
They’re the same banana…
Bad jokes.
And Duterte has been joking like this since i moved to Davao.
Tangina gusto ko lagyan ng duct tape ang bunganga nya.
But he. does. his. job.

SDCP Politics | Rody Duterte Calls for Federal Summit

DAVAO CITY, Davao — Mayor Rody Duterte will convene Mindanao leaders and various groups of stakeholders for a one-day summit on federalism Monday (December 1) in a bid to adopt a viable alternative to the present system of governance he described as “antiquated”.

Duterte, a potential presidential candidate, has not made public political plans for 2016 but cautioned supporters against pushing for his candidacy saying he would push for a federal form of government and abolish Congress as his first official act should he become president.

In the invitation which Duterte signed, the straight-talking lawyer and former prosecutor said, “I am calling on all responsible leaders in the island from government and civil society organizations, business, church, academe, military, indigenous peoples, youth/student and other stakeholders to tackle the possibility of pushing federalism as a viable alternative to the prevailing antiquated system, to effect meaningful political and social changes particularly in Mindanao and the country in general.”

The summit will be held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel here.

The summit, according to Duterte, aims to “forge a well-informed united front tasked to craft a collective plan of action on what is perceived as an arduous and long quest for Mindanao’s true identity reflective of its various tribes and peoples’ wishes and aspirations.”

The summit also hopes to address the “brewing sentiment of conscienticized leaders to forge unity towards a federal system of government.”

Davao City Information Officer Leo Villareal said a seven-man panel has been formed to act as reactors. They are: former President Fidel V. Ramos, Msgr. Fernando Capalla, Ateneo de Davao University President Fr. Joel Tabora, student leader Krista Iris Melgarejo, Severino Magbuo of the Indigenous People, former AFP Chief of Staff retired Gen. Hermogenes Esperon, businessman Paul Dominguez, and a constitutionalist who was not named.

Topping the list of invited participants are the governors, vice governors, congressmen, city and municipal mayors in Mindanao including those from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).

Governors Joey Salceda of Albay and Jose Pepito Alvarez of Palawan were also invited by Duterte and so with Congresswoman Lenny Robredo, the heads of the Municipal Mayors’ League, Vice Mayors’ League, Councilors’ League, and League of Barangays in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

From the religious sector, 24 Mindanao bishops headed by Bishop Capalla were invited, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Muslim religious leaders led by Aleem Mahmod Mala Adilao, Shiek Aleem Pasigan, and other 8 religious leaders.

Muslim leaders in the list were lawyer Randolf Parcasio, Prof. Moner Bajunaid, and Amina Razul.

Non-government organizations, Gabriela party-list, UP Mindanao student council, transport, labor and the urban poor groups will be represented in the summit.

The Chamber of Commerce in Davao and other areas in Mindanao, Philippine Banana Exporters Association, Miners Association, Tuna Exporters Association, and those in construction business who will represent the business sector were likewise invited to attend.

Duterte Serye | Duterte says Visibility is not Due to Prexy Bid

By Bot Consultancy (Ben Jason Oñate Tesiorna )

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo dismissed observations that his recent visibility in the national scene has something to do with his presidential bid come 2016.

Despite his constant statement downplaying growing clamor for him to run for president, many still do not believe that Duterte is not interested in running for president considering that he has been very visible in many parts of the country since last year.

Last year, during the onslaught of typhoon Yolanda, Duterte went to the devastated city of Tacloban and other areas in the Visayas to distribute relief goods and cash assistance to the LGUs. Duterte came well ahead of any other other politicians.

Duterte also visited earthquake ravaged areas of Cebu and Bohol to also distribute cash and relief goods.

Last Monday, Duterte was the guest of honor and speaker during the weekly flag-raising ceremony at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame.

Duterte also gave the P1 million check, as promised, to members of Task Force Enzo Pastor and Task Force Pivot of CIDG for successfully apprehending the personalities behind the killing of race car driver Enzo Pastor.

Duterte however explained that his mission in going around the country is to push for the federal form of government and not for a presidential bid.

The mayor also downplayed accusation that he is “unpatriotic” for having not heeded to the call of many Filipinos for him to run for president.

Duterte said that whoever is accusing him of that are those who really wanted him to run. He said there are many more Filipinos more suitable for the job. Duterte he simply do not covet the position thus his refusal.

The best is soon to come — FVR

I read this article thru a Facebook link and i can't help to share it with you. The article is coming from Bot Consultancy which is owned and operated by Ben Tesiorna, who is a contributor of CNN iReport and a correspondent of Solar News Channel for Davao Region.

DAVAO CITY, Davao
— If you are to read between the lines, it’s almost like former president Fidel V. Ramos is already endorsing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for the presidency.

Ramos and Duterte attended the BIMP-Eaga event at the SMX Lanang here in Davao City Thursday morning where both declared that it is all well in Mindanao, particularly Davao City.

The former president went further by saying that “Duterte is okay”.

The two met again at the Marco Polo Hotel around five in the afternoon with Jesus Dureza and Paul Dominguez. The meeting was however shortly interrupted by an earthquake.

Forty-five minutes after, Duterte and Ramos went out the room with the former president declaring that “the best is soon to come”.

When pressed if he is already endorsing Duterte for the presidential race come 2016, Ramos however refused to give a categorical answer read more..

Duterte: "Destined to Become President"

Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte
MANILA, Philippines
—  A former ranking government official on Monday said that the outspoken Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is destined to lead the country come the presidential derby in 2016.

Eduardo del Rosario, former National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director, said that while Duterte has initially turned down offers for him to run for the highest post in the land, there is still a chance for him to change his mind.

"Ito kasi parang advocacy na ito. There is what we call destiny. Kung talagang destiny ng isang tao na sya ang mamuno sa ating bayan kahit ayaw n'ya baka sa bandang dulo , ma-encourage siya na tumakbo din," del Rosario told reporters at the sidelines of the Duterte for 2016 President Movement in Greenhills, San Juan City.

Being the mayor's friend, Del Rosario, who had worked with Duterte for over six years, said the Davao City local chief executive is a capable of running the country.

"As a friend of Mayor Duterte, I worked with him for more than six years as battalion commander from 2000 to 2003 , as Task Force Davao commander from 2004 to 2006 and as Brigade commander in 2009, I know that Mayor Duterte is capable to become president of our country...Malaki ang kanyang kakayahan at maganda ang kanyang ginagawa. Yan ang kailangan ng ating bayan," he added.

He also noted what Duterte has done in Davao like being able to lower the crime rate in the city and instill discipline among his constituents.

He said there is a "silent majority" supporting the idea of Duterte running for president.

Aside from Del Rosario, ex-Philippine National Police chief Roberto Lastimoso was also sighted at the event.

Duterte Serye | The naked truth about Duterte

By Jun Ledesma | Oct. 3, 2014

 DAVAO CITY, Davao
— During coffee break in the public relations seminar I attended in Tagaytay City last week, I was asked by Malou Tiquia, the Chief Executive of Publicus Asia, what this troubling issue about Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte planning to shoot those who advocate his running for the Presidential race in 2016.

I quickly remembered that Ms. Tiquia openly considered Duterte as one possible presidential timber in an interview with Boy Abunda’s “The Bottom Line”. It was in the same talk show that political analyst and UP Prof. Clarita Carlos passionately endorsed Duterte for the Presidency stressing that he is in fact very qualified and more importantly has a “fire in his belly”. What she meant is that Digong is one kind of a leader who is ready to fight with all his might and determination for what he believes is right.

Seeing Ms. Tiquia in person this time gave me the opportunity to ask her whether she has not changed her impression of the Davao City Mayor. Her response was quick.

“But what is this talk going around that he is going to shoot his endorsers?” And then she chuckled as if amused. I told her, it will be good if you can talk with the mayor personally.

“But what kind of a man is he? I know that people speaks so highly of him but what is he really. Why the shooting thing?” she pressed on.

I hastened to give Ms. Tiquia a brief description of the man I knew.

People think Duterte as a no-nonsense mayor when it comes to criminality, discipline and orderliness. These are all true. A killer? That’s another story.

To countless child-cancer victims and those who cannot afford hospitalization he is their savior. For the marginalized that want to have a modest source of livelihood he spares them 1/3 of the pedestrian lane. He is a kind and soft-hearted man and this virtue he keeps but cannot be hidden because people speak about it.

In solemn nights especially during the yuletide, the man who mince no words and expletives in addressing criminal elements, would cuddle cancer patients, give them Christmas presents and give shelter to parents watching over their children who are in agony. At the height of a storm he stepped out of his pick-up vehicle then instruct his driver to bring home a distraught mother and her three kids caught in a flooded street.

When his vehicle failed to come back because of the rising flood water he just took a cab home and asked his driver that he too should just go straight home.

Digong is not the kind of man the likes of CHR Etta Rosales and Justice Secretary Leila Delima picture him to be. But true, he drives a taxi in the evening to prowl the city of street gangs, thieves and criminal elements hoping to engage them to a shootout if they opt to fight it out. But isn't it enigmatic that the same man actually sends hundreds of out-of-school-youths to school, stretch the rules and patience to provide opportunity for sidewalk vendors who strive for modest livelihood?

Duterte is far from being a gunslinger or someone with a smoking gun. As a journalist hounding Duterte for years now, I can only cite two instances when and where the mayor pulled the trigger of his gun. This was when convicted killer “alias Pugoy” and fellow inmates gang-raped a missionary and held hostage a little girl which they later killed without mercy. The incident which happened in a detention cell inside a Philippine Constabulary (PC) barracks enraged Duterte who assaulted the prison and fought it out with the armed Pogoy gang.

In another incident, Mayor Duterte along with police and drug enforcers, led the raid of a drug laboratory in Daliao, Toril. The members of the drug syndicate, who turned out to be undocumented Chinese nationals, opted to shoot it out with the lawmen. All the suspects perished. Smoke can still be seen in the barrel of Digong’s gun when they exited out of the laboratory.

The most recent incident did not involve Mayor Duterte but he was on top of the operation. He ordered the shoot-to-kill order to anti-kidnapping operatives that wiped out the entire kidnap-for-ransom syndicate who made the mistake of straggling in Davao City to collect the ransom from a bank.

The victim, a woman trader from Quezon City, was unscathed and lived to tell the story of how Duterte and the police operatives saved her.

It is true that Duterte always gives chance to offenders and other crime suspects to reform or just simply leave the Davao City. The message is simple: “Reform or leave the city vertically or horizontally”. Of course others would rather go swimming in the treacherous waters of Davao Gulf and in the process drown.

Duterte to PNoy: Don’t be the ‘savior of this universe’

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte

Davao City, Davao
 — Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, one of the staunch supporters of President Aquino in Mindanao, yesterday expressed opposition to proposals to amend the constitution and extend the President’s term.
“The statement that says there must be a second term (for Aquino) to save democracy is pure b*** s***,” Duterte said.

The mayor was reacting to proposals coming mostly from Aquino supporters and in Malacañang over extending the President’s term which can only be made possible through constitutional change.
This country is run by elections. If the people decide to elect a son of a b*****, then that’s their choice,” Duterte said.

Aside from the President’s term extension, Duterte said charter change will also limit the powers of the Supreme Court.
“Now they also want to amend the constitution and clip the powers of the Supreme Court. Patay tayo d’yan (We’re dead),” Duterte said.
The constitution may only be a piece of paper but it holds the country together from Jolo to Aparri, he said.
“You destroy that paper then you destroy the country,” he added.
But Duterte believes Aquino is a good president and has given his best to serve the Filipino people and the country.

“The President is good, he is very clean. That’s why I supported him last elections,” he said.
If given a chance to talk to the President, Duterte said he would tell him to calm down and “not be the savior of this universe because we are not. Leave it to the people to decide.”

He however admitted that “nobody can stop the Congress if they want it. It must be for good reason.”
“But if you say that you are trying to amend the constitution to save democracy then that’s an idiotic thing,” Duterte said.
He said that democracy in the country is very much alive, but the problem are those who were elected to various positions in the government.
