TAGUM CITY: LATEST DEVELOPMENT IN DA CITY




Tagum City, Davao — a fastest-rising urban city in Davao region. It is a 55 kilometers north of Davao City (the business center of Mindanao). It is about 1 hour and 30 minutes travel time to Davao City.The city lies between  7o 26’ N latitude and 125o 48’ E Longitude.

The City is strategically located at the northern part of southern Mindanao where it lies in the intersection of  four major road network system; the Phil-Japan Friendship Highway, the Surigao- Davao Coastal road, Davao-Agusan road and the Davao-Bukidnon road. It connect to all road network in the entire Mindanao.

Quick facts:
Tagum City is the Capital City of Davao del Norte.
Davao del Norte is abbreviated as Davnor by journalist/writer in Davao region.
Tagum City is part of Metro Davao. 
Metro Davao is only an informal reference of the area. ( check it here for Metro Davao )





This bustling city has a lot to offer for tourist who love for beautiful scenic view, food and even malling. The local goverment of this  urban city, lead by the Tagum City Mayor Rey T. Uy. He has a lot of project that became the model of the country in terms of progress, re-invention and innovation. In this city, you can discover many things that are not found in any other parts of the Philippines. So, what are you waiting folks, Tara na!..Lets explore Tagum...

Update as of January 2011:

Watch out Tagumeños as well as those residents of Davao del Norte,
Compostela Valley, Panabo City and other nearby areas. 
The next big thing to happen in this City is the opening of Gaisano Mall of Tagum.
This is probably one of the biggest mall in Tagum City.
It might be the biggest Gaisano Mall in Mindanao area, but I am sure the people of Davao would react to this statement.. Anyway, It is set to open this year (2011). It is a two connected building with an existing barangay road under it, just like the SM Mega Mall in Mandaluyong City, NCR. check out some of the photos above (most updated) and below (taken last January of this year) or simply click the link below.

Below are some of the pictures of  the NCCC Mall - Tagum with its expansion project. This city is really growing fast, there are a lot of  new establishment opened and newly constructed building sprouting almost every corner. It really shows that this city will play a vital role in the economic progress of Davao region.

— are the existing big malls in Tagum City.
But the City have a lot of Wholesale or Warehouse type of stores
located in the City proper or in the old business district of Tagum.

Tagum City is also the center of Agriculture and the main supplier of Agricultural needs because of its strategic location or just within the vast land of Agriculture in northern part of Davao region. And it is also the gold processing area of the Davao del Norte and Comval province.

In the photo below, you'll see many sidecar "motor powered vehicle" (color green) waiting outside the mall. These side car are the basic transportation around the city. The minimum fare is ₱9.00 per head, but it will go up depending on the distance of  your desired destination, but during rainy days the fare is higher especially if your desired destination is beyond the downtown area, fare ranging from ₱15,  ₱20,  ₱25 to  ₱30. Other transpo available are single motorcycle also known as the "habal-habal" , the basic fare is ₱10.00/head (As the usual way, you can make "tawaran or hangyo" with regards to the fare.), multi cab (basic fare is ₱10.00/head), jeep and bus (fixed rate) for long distance travel or outside Tagum route.
