Feature | Kidapawan City: At the Foot of Mt. Apo, Spiraling Upward

Kidapawan City: Rising Higher—From Mt. Apo to Modern Hubs

At the base of the majestic Mt. Apo, Kidapawan City is swiftly evolving into North Cotabato’s vibrant economic nucleus. Anchored by its rich agricultural heritage and framed by breathtaking landscapes, the city is entering a new era—one marked by thoughtful development, urban modernization, and growing real estate opportunities.

🏗️ Infrastructure in Motion

1. Mega Market & Integrated Transport Hub
Partnering with Palafox Associates, Kidapawan is developing a landmark Mega Market and trading center in Barangay Poblacion. This hub features wet and dry market sections, an eco-brick facility, skywalks, and a pasalubong area—all integrated with a modern transport terminal to streamline city-wide connectivity. source: https://tin.al/t4ydqD

2. Farm-to-Market Roads
Rural communities are feeling the impact. A ₱45M farm-to-market road in Barangay Sibawan connects over 300 farmers for faster, fresher market access pna.gov.ph+2sundaypunch.ph+2bomboradyo.com+2. Additionally, six villages received ₱24M in ELCAC funding for more roads and Level-3 water systems, igniting rural development pna.gov.ph+1bomboradyo.com+1.

3. Airport & Road Upgrades
With ₱300M committed in 2024 to upgrade the nearby Central Mindanao Airport, plus ongoing DPWH projects under the Mindanao Connectivity Improvement initiative, the city is enhancing mobility and expanding its reach regionally bomboradyo.com.

1ST MINDA FRUIT FESTIVAL in Baguio City

All set for Baguio Fruit Fest!

Davao City, Davao
 - A truck loaded with 5 metric tons of Durian took off yesterday from Kidapawan City for the 3-day trip to the North while another 15-tons of tropical fruits from the different parts of Mindanao will be flown from Davao City to Clark Airport Aug. 23 for the first-ever Fruit Festival initiated by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).
MinDA has partnered with the City Government of Baguio under its new Mayor, retired Police General Benjamin Magalong for the staging of the fruit festival aimed at helping Mindanao fruit farmers get a better income for their produce while giving Northern Luzon consumers the opportunity to buy their favorite tropical fruits at lower prices.
Following the arrangement which I suggested, the fruits from Mindanao will be consolidated by the farmers themselves while Baguio City fruit vendors organized by Mayor Magalong will handle the sales.
The strategy is intended to establish a direct link between the fruit farmers of Mindanao and the fruit vendors of Baguio City to keep fruit prices down.
It is now the fruit season in Mindanao and farmers have been flooding the market with Durian, Lanzones, Marang, Mangosteen, Rambutan and Pomelo bringing prices down.
To allow farmers to earn more, MinDA has initiated the marketing program for Mindanao fruits.
MinDA will also embark on an aggressive promotions and marketing campaign for Mindanao products in the BIMP-EAGA and other countries.
