DAVAO CITY — A 49-year-old company department head was wounded in a shooting incident Tuesday afternoon along McArthur Highway in Barangay Matina, Talomo District, authorities reported.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Melfred,” was driving a red Hyundai Accent from Savemore Bangkal toward the city proper when unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire at around 5:09 p.m. near the intersection of Pag-ibig Drive and McArthur Highway. The suspects immediately fled toward Pag-asa Drive in Matina Crossing.
Dr. Ma. Eleanor Guiani of the Southern Philippines Medical Center said the victim is in stable condition. Police noted that the victim is married, holds a managerial position as a department head in a private company, and resides in Green Orchard Village, Cabantian, Davao City.
The Talomo Police Station has initiated a hot pursuit operation and is continuing its investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
