MANILA, Philippines
— Tigerair Philippines plans to add 4 new domestic routes in the second half of the year. In a statement, Tigerair said it would launch flights from Manila to Davao and General Santos on November 20, using Airbus A320 aircraft.
A unit of Cebu Pacific, Tigerair also expanded its Cebu hub, with the launch of twice a week flights to Davao and Cagayan de Oro on November 29. Earlier this month, the airline launched flights to Cagayan de Oro from Manila. The lowest year-round fares for these new routes start at P888.
“Tigerair Philippines, through its network made wider with Cebu Pacific, remains driven to cater to its guests’ travel needs, be it for a bigger network or for low fares. With these 4 new routes, we will be able to serve them in time for the peak travel season in the Philippines,” Leilani de Leon, Tigerair chief for legal and corporate affairs, said.
With the new routes, Tigerair will operate over 230 weekly flights to 1 international and 10 domestic destinations: Hong Kong, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Manila, Puerto Princesa and Tacloban.
The airline uses a fleet of 4 A320 aircraft, and is set to take delivery of an additional unit in December.
In February, Cebu Air Inc (CEB) signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100 percent of Tigerair, including the 40 percent stake of Tiger Airways owned by Roar Aviation II Pte Ltd.
The transaction, which was approved by Tigerair shareholders and the Civil Aeronautics Board, was valued at $15 million.
