Ma-a–Magtuod Flyover Opens to Traffic, Boosting Mobility in Davao City
DAVAO CITY — Motorists can now utilize the newly opened 803-meter Ma-a–Magtuod Flyover, a major infrastructure project aimed at easing congestion along the busy Diversion Road corridor in Barangay Ma-a.
The flyover, implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XI, officially became accessible to vehicles on March 2. The elevated structure is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve traffic flow in one of the city’s most heavily used routes.
The project forms part of a ₱2.0704-billion infrastructure investment covering civil works and right-of-way acquisition. While the flyover is now operational, complementary developments beneath the structure — including pavement rehabilitation, drainage system upgrades, lane widening, and installation of solar-powered streetlights — are still underway to further strengthen traffic capacity and road safety.
Once all components are completed, the Ma-a–Magtuod Flyover is projected to enhance mobility for daily commuters, public utility vehicles, and cargo transport, reinforcing Davao City’s continued push toward modern and efficient urban infrastructure.
