The Davao City government has rolled out the Interim Bus System (IBS) project in Catalunan Grande, Tuesday, giving the barangay and the surrounding areas a boost to its much-needed transportation needs.
In her speech, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, who led Tuesday's launch, urged the public to patronize the project, especially the residents of Catalunan Grande and all who work and do business in this area, to support our IBS buses.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Project Implementation - Mindanao Cluster Eymard Eje joined Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte in the launching of the Catalunan Grande Route of the Interim Bus System (IBS) yesterday, 23 March at Elenita Heights Subdivision Entrance Gate, Catalunan Grande, Davao City. The operation of the IBS will pave the way for the implementation of the High Priority Bus System (HPBS) under the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project.
In his speech, Asec. Eje mentioned that "It has always been the dream of every Filipino to have a safe, secure, and comfortable mode of transportation. So as promised by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the DOTR, under the firm and resolute leadership of Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, is here to realize that promise".
Aside from Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, other VIPs who graced the affair include Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III of LTFRB XI, and Mr. De Carlo "Oyo" Uy, CEO of Metro Shuttle Corporation.
In its launch, six (6) buses will run on their initial stage of operation out of the 21 units to serve the routes from Elenita Heights Subdivisions passing through Catalunan Grande to Roxas Avenue.
The first trip is at 5:00 A.M and the last trip is at 6:00 P.M with 15 to 20 minutes interval.The mode of payment will be through cash or beep card for cashless transactions. Purchase and top-up of beep cards will soon be available at Bankerohan Terminal, Ecoland Terminal, and 7-Eleven outlets.
