Monkayo, Compostela Valley, Davao,
— I took these pictures around 8 a.m., and as you can see, there aren’t many people on the streets since it was still pretty early. But if you were at the town center (Monkayo Poblacion) during rush hour—like between 4 and 5 p.m.—it’d be a whole different scene. There’d be lots of people walking around, checking out stuff from the street vendors, grabbing some food, or just hanging out. It also gets pretty busy around lunchtime.
During the weekend, Monkayo Poblacion has what's called the "Taboan."
On Taboan day, you'll find a wide variety of fresh produce like fruits, potatoes, and vegetables, just to name a few. There are also poultry products and other livestock animals for sale, all at very affordable prices. You've got a lot of choices—some sellers even offer local delicacies. You can also find “ukay-ukay” (used clothing) and ready-to-wear (RTW) items like dresses and pants. So if you ever drop by this town, make sure to check all that out!
Just a quick facts:
Taboan → is the term of the Cebuanos for "Tiangge". During the Taboan, they showcase all their harvest of agricultural product in the market or even along the street.
